Now that man stands on the brink of conquering space and has one foot on the moon itself, one is inclined I feel to forget many of the things on this earth that have indirectly helped him there, One of them surely is music for “music is the food of life”. Those who create it and perform it are as ambitious and progressive as any space programme, If the effort can bring just a little happiness into this uncertain world of ours, then surely it is a success.
Sounds Orchestral, was an ambition, an ambition envisaged three years ago to update, so to speak, orchestral music (or to be more exact, “a better music”) and endeavour to bring it nearer to the understanding of the younger generation, keeping within commercial boundaries and retaining a teenage, yet adult appeal. This was no easy task, for to achieve this I firmly believed it was essential for a record to register on the current Hit Parade, and a great deal depended upon finding the right material.

These two piano players although very similar in appearance were not related. they were however a very successful duo who, with their interlocked grand pianos (Freud would have had a field day with that) belted out popular renditions of contemporary tunes with gusto. See them in action here if you’re interested further. Playing “Midnight Cowboy”
Audiences everywhere have acclaimed the twin Piano artistry of Arthur Ferrante and Louis Teicher. Their recording performances of classical, romantic and popular music are renowned throughout the musical world. Ferrante and Teicher came together in October 1947 and performed for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. This first association was so favourably received that they decided to collaborate on a permanent basis, a liaison which music lovers everywhere have endorsed in their millions, On this record we present Ferrante and Teicher at their best.

The romantic sounds of the string orchestra. A a setting for romance, the warm tones of the orchestra as it soars to a climax, the smooth “diminuendo, or the “pizzicato”, and the pulsating rhythm behind the Latin American melody; all these and many more are the effects achieved by the lull string orchestra. Jacques Leroy present twelve eminently suitable tunes for his Orchestra. “Babette”, Granada”, and “Gypsy Fiddler”. Or “Love Is Where You Find It Cole Porter’s “So In Love”. The Latin touch with “El Cumbanchero” and the “Tango Bolero”.
Combine all these into one LP. A truly outstanding result. Music to charm the soul. Music for every hour. “The Charm Of Strings”

This is a 7″ E.P. from 1964 for the Bollywood film of the same name. The singers are sisters Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, the first of which was once listed in the Guinness Book Of Records for having recorded the most number of songs in musical history. This is now disputed and current editions state her sister to have recorded the most.
